This course leads you on an exploration of Earth's systems, tracing their evolution from ancient times to today. The program combines thoughtfully chosen modules in Physical Geography and Geology to help students grasp how Earth's systems operate across different spatial and temporal scales. You'll learn about current landscape-shaping forces, how modern observations help interpret geological history (and vice versa), and what fossils reveal about present-day biodiversity patterns. The curriculum also examines pressing modern issues such as climate shifts, land degradation, environmental contamination, and water resource management. By examining both historical and current phenomena, you'll develop insights to address today's critical environmental concerns.
