The BA in History and Archaeology allows you to explore two complementary fields that deepen our insight into past human societies and cultures. While focusing primarily on medieval and contemporary eras, this program also offers opportunities to investigate ancient history. You'll analyze both written records and physical artifacts while exploring their interconnectedness. Fieldwork participation enables you to acquire diverse practical skills. Our cutting-edge facilities feature specialized equipment for hands-on learning in scientific analytical methods. Students enjoy access to exceptional resources across nine dedicated laboratories, including upgraded Osteology, Zooarchaeology, and Materials research spaces. Through second and third-year module placements and our certified internship program, you can work with regional heritage groups, educational institutions, and our professional archaeology team. The initial two years balance archaeology and history studies equally, while your final year dissertation may focus on either discipline.
