Pursuing a PhD enables you to deeply investigate a subject you're passionate about while making significant advancements in your field. You'll undertake a substantial independent research project on your selected topic, culminating in a thesis of around 100,000 words. You'll be supported throughout by either one primary supervisor or two co-supervisors who are experts in your research area. Our institution boasts a distinguished legacy in AI and data ethics education. This research connects directly with robotics initiatives, university-wide data projects (particularly through the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics), and collaborations with professional sectors like engineering and finance. Our approach integrates expertise from diverse fields such as computer science, robotics, engineering, financial systems, and data analysis. Additionally, we examine crucial ethical considerations including data privacy, decision-making processes, emotional influences on morality, accountability, and psychological factors in ethical behavior.
