This one-year program focuses entirely on independent research, where you'll conduct a project and document your findings in a thesis. Like a PhD, you'll work with a supervisor specializing in your chosen discipline. The MSc by Research enhances both academic and practical abilities, serving as an ideal pathway if you want to delve deeper into your field without committing to a PhD immediately. Graduates frequently progress to doctoral studies or industry roles.
Viruses are parasitic entities that infect organisms across all biological domains. Studying viral structures, their proteins, and interactions with host proteins is vital for human and animal health, as well as food production. Proteostasis research examines protein lifecycles—their synthesis, folding, and breakdown—and how malfunctions in these processes lead to disease. Since molecular structures and their assemblies drive biological functions, structural biology is fundamental to modern scientific exploration. Our work aims to decipher the architectures of biomolecules like proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids, along with their complexes. This field also investigates molecular dynamics, integrating principles from molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and computational modeling.
