Pursuing an MA or MSc by Research offers a valuable chance to enhance your intellectual abilities and deepen your academic focus in a chosen discipline. This research-based Master's program spans 12 months (or 24 months part-time), differing from traditional taught courses as it centers on designing, executing, and documenting an independent research project. You'll receive guidance from two faculty supervisors and have the opportunity to publish your findings upon completion.
The University of Leeds maintains a distinguished legacy of pioneering analytical methods and policy forecasts grounded in contemporary scientific knowledge. The Centre for Spatial Analysis and Policy continues this tradition by creating novel approaches to examine global systems, enabling insights into commercial, social, and environmental phenomena across various geographical dimensions while delivering practical policy evaluations. Our research encompasses diverse aspects of quantitative geography, with specialized focus areas including population trends, human migration, geodemographics, retail patterns, educational systems, criminal activity, and public health. We possess distinctive capabilities in analytical and modeling methodologies such as microsimulation, agent-based modeling, spatial interaction models, artificial intelligence applications, demographic forecasting, and geographic information systems implementations.
