Pursuing an MA or MSc by Research offers a valuable chance to enhance your intellectual abilities and deepen your academic focus in a specific area. This Research Master's program spans 12 months (or 24 months part-time), differing from traditional taught Master's degrees as it centers on designing, executing, and documenting a research initiative. You'll receive guidance from two faculty supervisors and have the opportunity to publish your findings upon completion.

Our research addresses social justice and citizenship concerns across local, national, and global levels, examining historical patterns, current realities, and future possibilities. In an era marked by growing societal diversity, urban inequality, and climate change disparities, we pioneer collaborative research with civil society groups and community organizations to combat prejudice, inequality, and marginalization, striving for greater global equity. We maintain diverse research collaborations ranging from small nonprofits to governmental agencies, supported by funding from prestigious national and international bodies including UK research councils, the European Union, the British Academy, and the Leverhulme Trust.
