Pursuing a postgraduate research degree requires strong dedication and enthusiasm for your chosen field. The journey may be demanding, but the rewards are immense. Doctoral studies present both challenges and profound fulfillment. Our research focuses on the critical connections between urban infrastructure, public health, and ecological systems. We investigate contaminants and microbes present in air, waste, soil, and water resources, with particular attention to how energy use, sustainability efforts, community health, and environmental consequences interact. Through laboratory experiments and computer modeling, we examine contamination sources, exposure pathways, and how engineered systems affect potential hazards. Our work explores both technological innovations and their integration with human, financial, cultural, and governmental considerations. Many projects involve cross-disciplinary collaboration, merging engineering principles with socioeconomic dimensions.
