The Masters by Research program offers you the opportunity to conduct in-depth independent research at the Masters level under the mentorship of IDEA Centre experts. You'll develop a research project on a subject of your choosing, supported by two co-supervisors, and compile your discoveries into a thesis of approximately 30,000 words. With a distinguished legacy in AI and data ethics education, our research connects closely with robotics initiatives, university-wide data projects (particularly through the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics), and collaborations with professional sectors like engineering and finance. Our approach integrates expertise from diverse fields including computer science, robotics, engineering, financial systems, and data analytics, while also exploring critical ethical domains such as data privacy, decision-making processes, emotional and moral psychology, accountability, and psychopathy.
