Contemporary democratic systems are profoundly influenced by the interactions among political leaders, media outlets, and the public. This multidisciplinary program draws from various theoretical perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of political journalism and communication's creation and environment. Foundational courses will examine political messaging across both long-standing and developing democracies, analyzing ethical considerations and power structures. You'll investigate issues like press freedom, journalistic accountability, the effects of new technologies, and the true influence of televised election coverage. The curriculum offers flexibility to align with your professional goals through elective modules covering subjects such as online media, environmental messaging, or creative protest movements.
