At the University of Leeds, you can pursue English studies alongside one of 10 available languages. This four-year program offers a global perspective on literature and culture while helping you achieve professional fluency in your selected language. You'll explore diverse literary works in the School of English, ranging from Old English classics to Jane Austen, Shakespeare, romantic poetry, and American and African literature. Additionally, you'll examine international literary works (often in translation) and investigate the cultures and societies of countries where your chosen language is spoken.

Through dedicated language modules and a mandatory year abroad, you'll develop professional-level proficiency in your selected language. This international experience will not only improve your linguistic abilities but also deepen your understanding of your host country's culture.
