This five-year program lets you master two major global languages while gaining insight into the contemporary world through studying the histories and cultures of their native-speaking nations. You'll dedicate one year to immersion in Japan and another in a Russian-speaking region, enhancing your linguistic abilities while experiencing these societies firsthand to deepen your appreciation of these captivating countries.

Our instruction in Japanese and Russian starts from beginner levels, though we can adjust for students with prior knowledge of either language. As a key player in global economics and international relations, Japan possesses a vibrant cultural heritage and dynamic, evolving society. Known for its cutting-edge technology and cultural influence, Japan also navigates significant social transformations in the modern era. Through this program, you'll refine your Japanese proficiency while examining the multifaceted aspects of Japanese society, government, history, and traditions to grasp its regional and worldwide significance.

Spanning five years, this program includes two international study components. During your second year, you'll undertake a year-long course at one of our affiliated Japanese universities. Subsequently, you'll spend a year in a Russian-speaking country focusing on intensive Russian language training.
