This course will provide you with robust language abilities and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary China. During your first year, you'll establish a solid foundation in modern Chinese language, preparing you for full cultural immersion in your second year when you'll study abroad in either mainland China or Taiwan. This immersive experience will thoroughly prepare you for advanced studies by deepening your cultural awareness and language proficiency. Our program focuses on situating language learning within the historical and social contexts where Chinese has developed. You'll achieve this through authentic materials and elective courses covering Chinese society, literature, and history.

Beyond language acquisition, you'll examine China's global influence as a world power, including its diverse cultures and complex international relations. Accounting for nearly 20% of the world economy, you'll investigate China's cultural, political, and economic impact, including its role as a hub for technology, commerce, and arts.

Your second year abroad in China or Taiwan will significantly enhance your language skills through intensive study while offering ample opportunities for cultural exploration. Many students consider this overseas experience the most rewarding part of their academic journey.
