This five-year program offers a unique opportunity to master two globally significant languages while immersing yourself in their cultural contexts. You'll develop fluency in both Arabic and Chinese while studying the rich histories and contemporary realities of their respective regions. The curriculum includes two immersive years abroad - one in China or Taiwan and another in an Arabic-speaking nation - allowing you to refine your language skills through direct cultural engagement. Instruction begins at beginner level for both languages, though students with prior knowledge can join at an appropriate level.

The Arabic studies component provides comprehensive linguistic training alongside deep exploration of Middle Eastern and North African societies, examining how historical, religious and cultural forces have shaped these regions. You'll engage with pressing modern topics including gender dynamics, racial identities, and cultural heritage.

Your international experience includes two full academic years overseas - typically your second and third years - with one semester dedicated to intensive language study at a partner institution in either mainland China or Taiwan.
