In partnership with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS), we've developed an engaging Fire Scene Investigation program that applies multidisciplinary science and research techniques to examine fire origins and causes. Your dissertation will allow you to explore a specialized area of fire science, giving you full ownership of designing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting findings from a significant research project that advances the field. The MSc program includes valuable professional development opportunities through either an industry placement or an applied project. This program holds dual accreditation from both the Energy Institute (EI) and the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). Study in our cutting-edge £35m Engineering Innovation Centre, featuring dedicated fire labs equipped with advanced computational fluid dynamics systems, analytical tools, and materials testing facilities for fire chemistry and safety engineering. You'll enjoy exclusive access to Washington Hall, the UK's premier international fire training and development facility. Graduates of our Fire Scene Investigation program will be qualified for roles in fire investigation units, forensic labs, and fraud divisions within government agencies or private firms, or may pursue academic research opportunities.
