Social workers engage with diverse segments of the population, particularly those facing significant disadvantages and marginalization. Our Master's program in Social Work offers multiple pathways to cultivate the expertise, competencies, and ethical principles needed to effectively support individuals with direct experience of social work services. You'll synthesize theoretical knowledge, practical abilities, and professional values to meet the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework requirements for qualifying social workers in England, along with Social Work England's regulatory standards. Ethical principles and effective practice methodologies form the foundation of our MA program, enriched by direct engagement with service users, current research, and professional evidence. The course includes roughly 200 days of supervised fieldwork, allowing you to enhance classroom learning while developing critical insights into real-world practice contexts and demonstrating values-driven work that meets professional benchmarks. Instruction is delivered in intensive blocks, complemented by various opportunities to apply this learning through interactions with both service users and practicing social work professionals.
