Our world is experiencing transformative changes in media and communication landscapes. Pursuing a PhD in Media Studies allows you to undertake an intensive research initiative. We'll support you in pushing disciplinary boundaries by equipping you to uncover groundbreaking knowledge.
Benefiting from expert supervision, top-tier facilities, and a dynamic academic environment, your experience at Kent will enable you to produce pioneering research that challenges conventions and contributes to critical discussions.
You'll undertake independent investigation under the mentorship of specialized supervisors. We encourage proposals across all topics and offer outstanding research infrastructure to facilitate your work, culminating in a dissertation of maximum 100,000 words. The initial stage involves contacting a prospective supervisor via email (refer to Staff Research).
You'll be assigned at least two supervisors who will mentor your academic and professional growth throughout your program. Regular meetings with your supervisors ensure not just research oversight, but also help pinpoint areas needing additional guidance or skill development. Periodic evaluations occur during your studies to maintain project momentum and guarantee access to essential support and resources for successful completion.
