Our research-based PhD in Drama allows you to pursue innovative scholarship under expert supervision. We encourage proposals across all subject areas.
Throughout your studies, you'll receive guidance from at least two supervisors who will assist with both academic progress and career preparation. Regular meetings ensure continuous feedback, helping identify skill development opportunities. Periodic assessments maintain research momentum while guaranteeing access to necessary resources. The culminating dissertation, not exceeding 100,000 words, undergoes oral examination.
Current doctoral projects showcase our breadth, exploring areas like performer development, neurodiversity, Asian humor traditions, grassroots theater, existential performance, experimental works, Elizabethan drama, cross-cultural reinterpretations, classical staging, physical theater methodologies, comedic performance, historical acting techniques, cognitive-diverse arts, and inclusive practices.
Funding possibilities include competitive awards like the Vice Chancellor's Research Scholarship (GTA) and CHASE consortium grants for collaborative humanities projects.
