Rather than submitting an extensive critical analysis, you'll craft a 3-5,000-word introductory essay that contextualizes your novel, connects it to broader themes, and positions it within relevant literary traditions. A comprehensive bibliography is also required. This PhD reflects how modern novelists engage with academia, blending rigorous analysis, research, and reading into innovative fiction. A dedicated supervisory team will guide you through every stage, from conceptual development to refining narrative elements like plot, character, and dialogue.

A first or upper-second class honours degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent) and, normally, a taught MA qualification of an excellent standard (Distinction or high Merit).
