Our postgraduate researchers thrive within an active academic community, enjoying a nurturing atmosphere and numerous chances to critically examine scholarly work and modern challenges. They become part of a research-oriented environment that places legal education within its historical, societal, and economic framework. Kent Law School (KLS) is globally acknowledged as a pioneer in critical and interdisciplinary research, encompassing socio-legal studies, law and humanities, critical legal perspectives, and feminist theory. Its academic output was ranked second in the UK in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment by Times Higher Education (THE). Alongside traditional campus-based doctoral programs, we offer an external research pathway. This alternative is ideal for emerging scholars or those balancing research with other responsibilities. Career readiness is a university-wide priority, and at Kent Law School, students benefit from a specialized Employability and Career Development Officer, alongside diverse internship options, professional development workshops, and industry networking events.
