As a criminology postgraduate student at Hull, you'll become part of a dynamic and collaborative research environment spanning diverse specializations. These include examining connections between alcohol and violence, exploring historical perspectives on crime and punishment, as well as contemporary issues like surveillance, environmental crimes, and restorative justice methods. Our PhD program merges academic excellence with state-of-the-art resources to create an exceptional learning journey.
We consider our research students integral members of our academic community, actively contributing to scholarly discussions and advancements in their fields. Beyond working closely with supervisors, students have multiple opportunities throughout their studies to present and engage with research—both their own and others'—through weekly postgraduate workshops, research luncheons, and various high-level seminars and workshops, all conducted in a supportive atmosphere.
The School offers comprehensive research training programs, supplemented by the University's Postgraduate Training Scheme. Additionally, limited partial bursaries are available for research students seeking financial support to participate in or organize academic conferences and workshops.
