Our institution provides three research degree options: PhD, MSc by Thesis, and MRes Research Methods in Psychology. The full-time PhD program spans three years (or five years part-time), during which you'll develop a 100,000-word thesis on a supervised topic. This includes completing at least 60 credits of research training modules from the Doctoral College's Postgraduate Training Scheme.
The MSc by Thesis is a one-year full-time program (or two years part-time), requiring a 50,000-word thesis on an approved topic. Students must also complete a minimum of 20 credits from the Doctoral College's research training modules.
The MRes Research Methods in Psychology combines 60 credits of coursework with a 30,000-word thesis. The curriculum includes mandatory modules in advanced quantitative methods and professional research skills, plus one elective module selected from three options based on individual training requirements.
