Chemical engineering utilizes scientific principles to develop, build, and manage systems that transform raw materials into essential consumer goods. This includes food and beverages, medications, agricultural nutrients, power sources, and petroleum products.
During your initial year, you'll participate in process safety instruction, featuring trips to CATCH, one of Britain's premier training centers. There, you'll gain hands-on experience with industrial equipment and protocols, learning to recognize potential workplace dangers. On campus, our virtual control room lets you monitor a dynamic 3D model of a chemical processing facility.
Major industry leaders like Croda, Cristal, INEOS, Vivergo, and BP Acetyls sponsor our third-year design initiative, presenting awards for outstanding projects.
Beyond our standard three-year program, we provide extended four- and five-year alternatives. Options include an incorporated work placement, a combined Master's degree (MEng), or both. Similar to all our engineering programs, Chemical Engineering begins with a shared foundational year, allowing you to transfer to another specialization in your second year if desired.
