A Master of Science (MSc) by Research program enables students to complete a one-year (full-time) research-focused degree with minimal structured coursework. This academic path provides an opportunity to investigate a specialized research area in less time than a comprehensive PhD program.
Our research degree options include full-time, part-time, and select distance learning formats.
Unlike taught Master's programs, Research Master's candidates select a defined project area and enjoy greater autonomy in their academic work.
Students collaborate with their supervisor to establish an approved research plan during the initial months of study. Throughout the research process, participants enhance their investigative abilities through specialized training sessions and academic events.
Each candidate receives a primary supervisor, typically supported by a team of up to three advisors, who provide guidance throughout the research journey.
Upon completing the research, students document their results in a concise thesis of approximately 25,000 words for formal evaluation.
Successful graduates earn their degree and may choose to continue their academic exploration by pursuing a full doctoral (PhD) research program if they find the experience rewarding.
