A Master's by Research (MSc) offers a one-year, full-time research program with minimal structured coursework. This format provides an opportunity to investigate a focused research area in less time than a comprehensive PhD program.
Unlike taught Master's programs, Research Master's candidates select a dedicated project and enjoy more autonomy in their academic work.
Students collaborate with their supervisor to establish an approved study plan during the initial months. Throughout the research process, participants can enhance their skills through specialized training sessions and academic events.
The program culminates with a written thesis of approximately 25,000 words, which undergoes formal assessment.
Graduates who find the research experience rewarding may choose to pursue a full doctoral program (PhD).
Each student receives guidance from a primary supervisor, typically supported by a team of up to three advisors, who provide project-specific expertise and mentorship.
