A Master's by Research (MSc) offers a one-year (full-time) research-focused degree program with minimal structured coursework. This format provides an opportunity to investigate a research subject in less time than a comprehensive PhD program.
Unlike taught Master's programs, Research Master's candidates select a defined project and enjoy more autonomy in their academic work.
Students collaborate with their supervisor to establish an approved study plan during the initial months. Throughout the research process, participants can enhance their research capabilities through specialized training sessions and academic events.
The program culminates in a written thesis of approximately 25,000 words, presenting research outcomes for formal assessment.
Successful graduates receive their degree and may choose to pursue a full doctoral program (PhD) if they wish to continue their research journey.
