This Master's program consists of four modules and a 12,000-word dissertation, examining the Holocaust and other genocides with a focus on cultural depictions and how historical atrocities shape modern international law and peacekeeping efforts. The curriculum creates multiple connections between history and contemporary issues: exploring past genocides (including the Holocaust) and their impact on current approaches to humanitarian crises and discrimination, while also contrasting victim experiences across time periods - such as comparing refugee children from the 1930s with those of today.
The MA program operates in partnership with Holocaust Centre North, allowing students to access their archives and learn from their team of Holocaust experts, museum professionals, and community outreach specialists.
