This postgraduate Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course provides comprehensive experience in secondary school environments. You'll explore diverse socio-economic contexts and work with students of varying needs and abilities. A dedicated subject mentor will guide you, while university tutors will assist in developing research-based teaching methods for secondary education. Our tailored Subject Specialist Studies (SSS) program concentrates on deepening your understanding of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum in your chosen language, while supporting your practical teaching during placements. Our expert team will help refine your skills in teaching a primary language from Spanish, French, or German. Depending on placement school availability, you might also expand your proficiency in Portuguese, Italian, or Mandarin (or a combination of these languages).

With a current national demand for Modern Foreign Languages teachers (1), our PGCE M (Secondary 11-18) Modern Foreign Languages with QTS aligns with Department for Education standards, preparing you for a fulfilling teaching career. The program guarantees at least 120 days of hands-on school experience to develop your practical skills. Upon successful completion of both the PGCE and school-based training, you'll be eligible for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recommendation.
