Course introduction
Explore the fascinating field of Criminology through our engaging master's program. Our course guides you through the complex realms of criminal behavior, social deviance, and justice systems. You'll address worldwide concerns such as global security, restorative justice approaches, intimate partner violence, and major crime investigations. Benefiting from our dedicated, research-focused faculty, you'll develop a thorough grasp of fundamental concepts and modern dilemmas influencing today's society.

Practical application
Our program emphasizes hands-on learning throughout your academic journey. You'll examine urgent current problems and have chances to partner with various institutions, such as Gloucestershire Police, Restorative Gloucestershire, and specialized nonprofits addressing crucial issues including domestic violence, sexual assault, and victim services. This is your opportunity to create real change while refining your criminology expertise.

Learning approach
Your studies will span two weekly days - presently scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays - providing an intensive educational experience. We foster your development in a stimulating setting through interactive seminars, practical workshops, informative lectures, and self-directed research. Evaluations are diverse, assessing multiple competencies through written papers, project collections, visual presentations, and a culminating thesis that allows you to highlight your specialized interests.

Additional opportunities
Enhance your Criminology journey with our wide array of supplementary activities, including participation in our focused research teams - the Sexual Violence Research Team and the Homicide Investigation Group, where you'll contribute to actual initiatives for external agencies. These experiences not only deepen your education but also open doors for potential thesis subjects and professional directions.

Professional pathways
You'll have the chance to participate in active initiatives with our partner institutions. We maintain connections with law enforcement agencies, the Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner's Office, Restorative Gloucestershire, community safety organizations like Gloucester City Safe, and regional nonprofit groups.

Students are invited to become members of our research collectives - the Homicide Analysis Team, the Gender-Based Violence Research Collective, or the Correctional Systems Study Group. These groups facilitate collaboration between learners and educators, skill development, career-building networks, professional connections, and influence on existing procedures and regulations.

Our alumni have obtained varied positions within Law Enforcement, Community Rehabilitation, and Correctional Facilities, as well as in nonprofit sectors, governmental agencies, and corporate enterprises. With individualized mentorship from instructors and extensive support resources, you'll be prepared to establish yourself in the criminology and justice sectors.
