Health Psychologists utilize psychological expertise in clinical and community environments to enhance wellness and prevent disease. They develop strategies to improve care experiences for patients, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers, while also influencing healthcare policies and systems. Our BPS-accredited Health Psychology MSc program takes a comprehensive approach to health and wellbeing, emphasizing social, cultural, and economic influences. The COVID-19 pandemic has particularly underscored the value of social connections and financial stability in maintaining physical and mental health across diverse populations. It has also revealed how national policies and community engagement affect frontline workers' wellbeing. This program prepares students for careers in the expanding field of Health Psychology by examining health through interconnected contexts, recognizing that effective solutions require multi-level approaches. Coursework explores illness experiences, personal health influences, and community health dynamics, prioritizing client-centered understanding over detached professional perspectives.Through collaborations with community groups, nonprofits, and NHS psychology services, our program maintains a strong focus on social equity and health psychology's capacity to drive meaningful change.
