Our innovative Popular Music program equips musicians with the skills to forge versatile and lasting careers in creative fields. You'll hone artistic abilities across production, songwriting, live performance, media scoring, studio work, promotion, and business development. Our distinguished faculty members maintain active industry roles as composers, music producers, performing artists, and scholars. They oversee independent record labels and music festivals while leading community initiatives and digital music ventures.
Throughout this three-year Popular Music course, you'll gain extensive professional performance experience to refine your stagecraft, musical catalog, and artistic persona. Students engage in diverse internships and tackle real-world projects from our industry collaborators, including major events like Reading and Leeds Festivals and Download, brands like Superdry, media outlets like the BBC, venues like Gloucester Guildhall, and regional partners such as The Music Works and Gloucestershire Music. Alumni successfully enter fields as touring artists, studio musicians, songwriters, and composers, while others transition into teaching or leadership roles across community, educational, and healthcare settings.
