Nutrition research at Glasgow University explores diverse fields such as digestive health, food science, metabolic processes, and the relationship between diet and chronic illnesses at postgraduate levels including MSc, MD, and PhD programs.
The digestive health and metabolism research division conducts studies across all life stages, from infancy to adulthood. Investigations focus on food digestion and nutrient absorption, interactions with intestinal microbiota, metabolic processing of both nutrients and non-nutritive food elements, and their effects on blood lipids and insulin sensitivity in healthy individuals as well as pediatric and adult patients.
The diet and chronic disease research team has developed innovative methodologies in a comprehensive program that bridges basic and clinical research. Many projects involve collaborative supervision across multiple research institutes. Our Graduate School within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences offers a dynamic, nurturing environment for all postgraduate scholars, with dedicated academic advisors, skilled supervisors, and personalized student support systems designed to foster academic excellence.
