We strive to become the global leader in health economics and health technology assessment research and education, dedicated to enhancing health outcomes through informed decision-making.
The School of Health & Wellbeing bridges medical and social sciences, providing students with a distinctive interdisciplinary learning environment. Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) encompasses diverse activities focused on evaluating health service interventions, including policies, procedures, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics. Health Technology Assessment (HTA) involves analyzing evidence regarding the impacts of healthcare technologies. Our research supports decision-making for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies.
Postgraduate research (PGR) students in HEHTA acquire a versatile skillset applicable to careers in academia, public institutions, private enterprises, and nonprofit organizations. Their development is fostered through comprehensive internal training, a collaborative team environment, and connections with our global network. Students also benefit from researcher training programs in the Colleges of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences (MVLS) and Social Sciences (CoSS). Their work leads to high-impact publications, international conference participation, and strengthens HEHTA's global standing across seven research themes. Research projects are customized based on faculty expertise within HEHTA, the School of Health & Wellbeing, and student interests. Our supervisors employ diverse methodologies, including decision modeling, cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, data integration, and advanced meta-analysis. We maintain strong collaborations with government agencies, healthcare systems, public sector organizations, regulatory bodies, and nonprofit institutions.
