Considering a career in teaching to make an impact? This postgraduate qualification is your starting point. By completing the PGDE at the University of Glasgow, you'll meet the General Teaching Council for Scotland's requirements for Provisional Registration.
Scottish residents, UK nationals, Irish citizens, and certain EU status holders can then join the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS). This program ensures a year-long teaching position to attain GTCS Full Registration status. Alternatively, the GTCS Flexible Route remains available. Our Master's-level PGDE combines 18 weeks of campus study with 18 weeks of practical school experience, fostering your growth as a thoughtful, research-driven educator dedicated to lifelong professional development. Both university and school-based components emphasize research-based methods, meeting GTCS Provisional Registration standards and the University's graduate expectations. The curriculum emphasizes educational values aligned with broader societal goals, with a research-focused approach centered on social justice - encouraging you to reflect on what it truly means to be an equitable and inclusive educator.
