Physics explores matter, energy, and their interactions through both experimentation and theory, spanning from subatomic particles to cosmic phenomena. Our faculty lead groundbreaking international initiatives like CERN's Large Hadron Collider and the LIGO gravitational wave detector. This program holds accreditation from the Institute of Physics. Beyond lectures, students access our Garscube Campus facilities including an observatory, planetarium, and telescopes. Our academic staff contribute significantly to global research endeavors. Student-led societies PhySoc and AstroSoc foster engagement within our community.
The program develops scientific expertise along with mathematical and analytical capabilities, preparing graduates for diverse sectors such as aerospace, technology, energy, telecommunications, healthcare, education, and government services.

Advanced Highers – AAA including Mathematics and Physics attained in one exam year and at the first attempt.

Three A-levels at grades A*AA in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics attained in one exam year and at the first attempt.
IB advanced entry requirements
38 points with three Higher Level subjects at 6,6,6 in Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches), and Physics attained in one exam year and at the first attempt.
