Physics explores both the practical and theoretical aspects of matter, energy, and their interactions, spanning from fundamental particles to nuclear and atomic levels, solid-state physics, and even cosmic origins. Our faculty members hold key positions in global research initiatives like CERN's Large Hadron Collider and the LIGO gravitational wave detector. This program holds accreditation from the Institute of Physics. Alongside lectures, students benefit from our Garscube Campus facilities, including an observatory, planetarium, and telescopes. The department boasts two student-led societies: PhySoc and AstroSoc.
Graduates gain scientific expertise along with mathematical and analytical capabilities, preparing them for diverse career paths in aerospace, electronics, semiconductors, energy, telecommunications, computing, medical physics, education, business, and government sectors.
