We strive to become the global leader in health economics and health technology assessment research and education, dedicated to enhancing health outcomes through informed decision-making.
The School of Health & Wellbeing bridges medical and social sciences, providing students with exceptional interdisciplinary training in a dynamic setting. Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) encompasses diverse evaluations of healthcare interventions, including policies, procedures, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostic tools. Health Technology Assessment (HTA) involves analyzing evidence regarding the impacts of healthcare technologies. Our research informs critical decisions about prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation approaches.
HEHTA's postgraduate research (PGR) students acquire a versatile skillset applicable to careers in academia, government, industry, and nonprofit sectors. These students benefit from comprehensive internal training programs, a supportive research team, and connections with our global network. They can also participate in researcher development programs offered by the Colleges of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences (MVLS) and the College of Social Sciences (CoSS). Our students produce impactful publications, present at international conferences, and enhance HEHTA's global standing across our seven research areas. Each research project is customized based on HEHTA investigators' expertise, School of Health & Wellbeing resources, and student interests. Our supervisors employ various methodologies including decision modeling, cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, data integration, and advanced meta-analysis. We maintain strong collaborations with government entities, healthcare systems, public agencies, regulatory bodies, and nonprofit organizations.
