We seek to deepen our comprehension of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders impacting individuals within our clinical specialties (including diabetes, kidney diseases, and endocrine disorders), while examining their broader effects across different ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic groups.
Our studies focus on uncovering the biological connections between obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and cardiovascular/metabolic conditions, aiming to create improved prevention methods, obesity treatments, and solutions for its related health consequences. These insights help us innovate cardiovascular treatments and optimize current therapies.
Our team's multidisciplinary skills range from molecular biology and biomarker analysis to clinical studies, epidemiological research, and clinical trial oversight. We're pioneering the creation of specialized biobanks integrated with anonymized NHS Scotland health records. Within our renal research program, we're working to mitigate risks and enhance care for chronic kidney disease patients.
