The Global Economy program delves into the evolution, structure, and economic consequences of modern globalization within a diverse, multicultural setting. Designed for individuals without prior economics or business education, it deepens your insight into the global economic landscape and its governing institutions (both formal and informal). You'll examine how regional economies interact with worldwide systems, potentially fostering trade growth, sharper economic analysis for businesses or governments, innovative solutions, or entrepreneurial development. Key subjects include international commerce, the interplay between education, innovation, and capital flows, foreign investments, multinational corporations, Global Value Chains, Production Networks, along with related corporate responsibility and global citizenship initiatives. Selected students may participate in a three-week March session at Japan's Kyoto University, featuring tailored coursework, educational excursions, and early dissertation planning (competitive placement). This experience prepares graduates to drive meaningful change across sectors like policymaking, corporate leadership, and nonprofit advocacy—particularly in environmental, educational, or civic domains.
Upon completion, you'll possess a nuanced understanding of global economic integration's scope, drivers, and effects, positioning you for leadership in corporate, NGO, or policy spheres. Potential career paths span international economics, cross-border trade, global nonprofits, and policy analysis.
