This program centers on crucial macroeconomic and microeconomic factors that drive financial markets. These components are essential for informed financial choices and incorporate the latest advancements in these fields. The curriculum aims to deliver comprehensive knowledge about financial market operations and monetary policy. Through Financial Economics, you'll receive intensive training in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and quantitative approaches while deepening your grasp of financial theory and practical applications. The course explores how macroeconomic elements like monetary/fiscal policies, growth trends, and risk factors interconnect and impact financial markets, including the valuation of stocks and bonds.
You'll gain in-depth knowledge of financial market mechanisms and how monetary policy decisions influence them through various channels. The program teaches both technical and fundamental market analysis techniques. You'll enhance your skills in areas pertinent to financial markets, empirical/quantitative finance, macro/microeconomics, and international applied economics. The structure includes four mandatory courses, two electives, and a significant independent research project, typically a dissertation focused on your chosen financial economics topic.
Upon completion, you'll possess the critical knowledge and hands-on skills for financial sector roles such as financial economist, data analyst, policy analyst, or financial analyst. 2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent in economics, finance, engineering, physics, or another highly mathematical discipline.
