Aligned with ESRC standards, the MRes Management program builds a strong base for pursuing doctoral studies in management. This course blends specialized study in your chosen management field with practical training in research methodologies, serving as an ESRC-approved route to a management PhD. You'll develop both theoretical expertise in your selected management research area and essential qualitative/quantitative skills for becoming an effective researcher or analyst in the field. The curriculum teaches you to formulate research questions, design and oversee research projects, and craft high-quality proposals. You'll develop a personalized research proposal while receiving customized training for your specific research focus. Early in the program, you'll be assigned a supervisor to guide you in creating and executing your research project using the methods and techniques learned. Core management courses feature small class sizes, fostering dynamic learning. Throughout the year, you can participate in research workshops, seminars, conferences, and social/networking events we host for PhD candidates.
Upon completion, you'll possess the expertise and capabilities to conduct independent research at management's cutting edge, preparing you for PhD studies or research-intensive roles in policy and practice. Career paths include management positions in government, business, and industry sectors, with opportunities as consultants, analysts, or research project managers. Most graduates progress to management PhD programs.
