The Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering research division hosts over 70 graduate researchers exploring varied domains like atomic force microscopy, quantum sensing, high-speed optical technologies, and nanoscale device modeling.
You'll gain access to the renowned James Watt Nanofabrication Centre (JWNC) and Kelvin Nanocharacterisation Centre, with JWNC holding multiple global records for nanofabrication achievements, particularly in nanoelectronic and optoelectronic device performance.
In the past five years, JWNC has collaborated with more than 250 international corporations and 90 universities worldwide on nanoscience initiatives. Each PhD candidate benefits from dual supervision, including one highly involved research mentor. With 50+ division members, students experience strong camaraderie and often forge enduring connections.
