This mechanical engineering program offers comprehensive training in core principles and practical applications, equipping students with problem-solving skills for real-world challenges. Our industry partnerships enhance the learning experience, with professional engineers delivering lectures and facilitating career opportunities.
The curriculum covers mechanical engineering fundamentals, mathematics, dynamics, electronics, materials science, statics, thermodynamics, and essential engineering competencies. This broad foundation allows flexibility to transition to other engineering fields after the first year if desired. Coursework spans applied mathematics, mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, microelectronics, computational engineering, material science, power systems, thermal dynamics, and production design. Advanced studies include dynamic systems, hydraulic power, engineering design, thermal transfer, measurement technologies, manufacturing processes, computational modeling, and structural mechanics. The fourth year delves into specialized areas like thermal systems, automation, optical technologies, material science, structural analysis, robotic systems, mechanical vibrations, sustainable energy solutions, and design projects. The fifth-year MEng program emphasizes industry-focused individual research projects, complemented by advanced control systems studies and management training.
Our alumni have secured positions with leading organizations including: Babcock, Chevron, Wood Group, Spooner Industries, Scottish Power Renewables, Jee Ltd, OyI Manufacturing, BAE Systems, and Rolls-Royce.
