The student society organizes numerous events annually, ranging from social gatherings to professional development opportunities. These gatherings offer valuable experiences: whether enjoying casual evenings with peers from all engineering fields or networking with industry professionals in an informal setting. The society serves as a welcoming space for students to unwind during demanding academic terms while connecting with classmates.Annually, the James Watt School of Engineering engages in the prestigious Formula Student competition. Organized by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE), this ten-month project brings together students from various engineering specialties to collaboratively design and build a racing vehicle. The process concludes with a competition at Silverstone Circuit, where teams worldwide compete. This initiative enhances students' technical, managerial, and marketing abilities while providing hands-on experience in motorsport engineering. The school acknowledges the program's significant benefits and offers extensive support.Our alumni have secured positions with leading companies including McLaren, Cadence, Leonardo, Cirrus Logic, Nordic Semiconductors, and Analog Devices.
