Nutrition research at Glasgow University explores diverse fields such as gastrointestinal health, food science, metabolic processes, and the connection between diet and chronic illnesses at postgraduate levels including MSc, MD, and PhD programs.
The gastrointestinal and metabolic studies division conducts investigations across all life stages, from infancy to maturity. Studies focus on food digestion and nutrient absorption, relationships with intestinal microbiota, metabolic processing of both nutrients and non-nutritive food elements, and their effects on blood lipids and insulin sensitivity in healthy individuals as well as pediatric and adult patients.
The chronic disease and nutrition research team has developed innovative methodologies in a comprehensive research program that bridges basic science and clinical applications. Many projects involve collaborative supervision across multiple research institutes. Our Graduate School within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences offers a dynamic, nurturing, and intellectually engaging atmosphere for all postgraduate scholars. We are committed to delivering outstanding support through specialized academic advisors, expertly qualified supervisors, and personalized student welfare services.
