The field of computing science spans diverse areas: from coding and developing complex software architectures, to crafting and assessing user interfaces, computational methods, hardware and networking infrastructures, machine intelligence, data management and large-scale analytics systems. Established in 2017, our School of Computing Science created the groundbreaking Centre for Computing Science Education, demonstrating our dedication to educational excellence and forward-thinking teaching approaches.
Computing Science alumni gain professional recognition from the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, fulfilling the educational criteria for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status. For four out of the past nine National Student Surveys, our School has achieved top marks in student satisfaction. Our curriculum is developed and delivered by field-leading academics. The School introduced its innovative Centre for Computing Science Education in 2017, underscoring our focus on educational leadership and novel teaching methodologies.

Bachelor's degree holders qualify for BCS membership and, with appropriate experience, may pursue Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status along with partial Chartered Scientist (CSci) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) credentials. MSci graduates qualify directly for full CITP and partial CSci recognition. Our bachelor's programs carry the Euro-Inf Bachelor Quality certification, while MSci degrees hold the Euro-Inf Master Quality accreditation.
