Philosophy is a disciplined approach to seeking well-reasoned solutions to deep inquiries about knowledge, existence, ethics, scientific understanding, and what it means to be human. We organize reading retreats for students, often in the Scottish Highlands, and maintain an active undergraduate Philosophy Society.
You'll acquire versatile skills that prove beneficial in professional settings. These encompass assessing arguments and interpreting texts, analytical thinking, clear and precise communication, and challenging established viewpoints. Some alumni pursue advanced Philosophy degrees and academic careers. Recent Philosophy graduates have secured positions at: Hydrogen Group (recruitment consultant), Hopscotch Films (TV researcher), The Guardian (audience editor), and Civil Service fast track programs (Treasury and Ministry of Defence).
This program examines fundamental philosophical concepts about reality's essence. Participants will investigate key topics in formal logic, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of science, concentrating on determining what truly exists.
After completing your second year, you'll have engaged with philosophy's central disciplines while gaining practical skills to formulate your own responses to the questions addressed in years 1 and 2.
