Philosophy involves the methodical pursuit of clear responses to deep inquiries about knowledge, existence, ethics, science, and human behavior through logical reasoning and debate. We organize reading retreats for students, often in the Scottish Highlands, and maintain an active undergraduate Philosophy Society.
You'll acquire versatile skills that prove beneficial for future careers, including assessing arguments, interpreting texts, analytical thinking, clear written and verbal communication, and challenging presuppositions. Many alumni pursue advanced Philosophy degrees and academic careers. Recent Philosophy graduates have secured positions at Hydrogen Group (recruitment specialist), Hopscotch Films (television researcher), The Guardian (audience editor), and the Civil Service fast track program (Treasury and Ministry of Defense).
This program familiarizes students with fundamental philosophical concepts about reality's essence. Participants examine key topics in formal logic, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of science, concentrating on determining what entities can truly be said to exist.
Upon completing your second year, you'll have explored most central philosophy disciplines while gaining practical skills to apply this knowledge in formulating responses to the questions addressed during years one and two.
