Mathematics is an expansive and continually evolving field that delves into numerical, geometric, and logical connections. Our program offers a broad selection of honors-level courses to choose from. Through our ambassador initiative, students can gain firsthand teaching experience in schools while building essential professional competencies.
The ambassador program provides opportunities for students to observe classroom instruction directly and enhance key career abilities. The MacLaurin Society (or MacSoc), named after Scottish mathematician Colin MacLaurin, serves as the university's Mathematics and Statistics Society. Active since the 1950s, it fosters a welcoming community for School of Mathematics students.
Our degree programs stand out for their adaptability, enabling combined studies with numerous disciplines across the University. Popular combinations include Physics, Chemistry, and Economics, though students have recently pursued joint degrees in fields like English, French, Music, and Philosophy. Note that some combined Honors courses may have scheduling limitations.
Graduates frequently pursue careers in finance, technology, or advanced studies. Others apply their analytical and problem-solving training in industrial settings. Notable employers of our alumni include: PricewaterhouseCoopers, Grant Thornton, Alexander Sloan, Cigna
Deloitte, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Credit Suisse.
