The field of computing science encompasses diverse areas: from software development and engineering complex systems, to creating and assessing human-computer interactions, algorithmic solutions, computing networks, AI technologies, data management, and large-scale information systems. In 2017, the School of Computing Science established the groundbreaking Centre for Computing Science Education, demonstrating our dedication to advancing educational excellence and innovation.
Our computing science alumni receive accreditation from the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, fulfilling the educational criteria for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status. For four out of the past nine years in the National Student Survey, our School of Computing Science has achieved top rankings for student satisfaction. Our curriculum is developed and delivered by leading experts in their respective fields. The School of Computing Science introduced its innovative Centre for Computing Science Education in 2017, reflecting our ongoing commitment to educational leadership.

Bachelor's degree holders qualify for British Computer Society membership and, with appropriate experience, can pursue Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status along with partial Chartered Scientist (CSci) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) recognition. MSci graduates qualify for full CITP and partial CSci accreditation. Our bachelor's programs carry the Euro-Inf Bachelor Quality certification, while MSci degrees hold the Euro-Inf Master Quality Label.
