Astronomy explores the physical universe, encompassing everything from our planet and solar system to distant galaxies at the cosmic frontier. Our program enhances classroom learning with hands-on experiences at our observatory, planetarium, and telescope facilities. Students engage with cutting-edge astrophysics research under expert guidance. The program develops scientific understanding along with mathematical and analytical abilities, preparing graduates for diverse career paths. Numerous alumni pursue advanced degrees like MSc or PhD programs in specialized astronomical fields or related disciplines before launching their careers.
Both our single and joint Physics degree programs hold accreditation from the Institute of Physics. Completing the MSci program provides the foundation to achieve Chartered Physicist status.
